Basically, with the Europa Cup winners going into the CL, the maximum number of entrants from any country was raised to five. If Italy, who have only 3 entrants won both European competitions but the teams were outside the top 3, they would get 5 entrants to the CL next year. If the same happened to England, we would still only get 5 so 4th would miss out.

Such a random season can't see CITY getting past the semi, but I guess if they get some luck like Chelsea had that year (truck loads) then anything is possible.

don't know but it would be 2nd time in 5 years the manager of an english club was cut loose within 6 months of winning the first CL title for said club
